Dear Alex, I have just found your exhibition web site: First exhibition at the North Pole I am truly delighted and thrilled that the polar events of 1937 have been remembered in such a wonderful way. My interest in this polar story started in 1969 when I received a letter and RAEM/MM QSL from Ernst Krenkel - see attached - in response to a short wave listener report I sent him on his transmissions from the Professor Zubov on its way back from the Antarctic. Since 1972 I have had my own amateur radio callsign (G4AYO) and have put together a very large collection of Krenkel memorabilia, based on his book "RAEM Is My Callsign".

Live with Aleksey Shaburov at Voice of Russia

On June 15 at 2 pm Aleksey Shaburov, the initiator of the project “North Pole – New Opportunities in Life and Business” was on air at Voice of Russia. In his report Aleksey Shaburov told about the project “North Pole – New Opportunities in Life and Business” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of two heroic expeditions: the first Soviet drifting polar station NP-1 set up by Schmidt and Papanin and polar flights of Chkalov and Gromov through the North Pole. On April 23 MVK expedition erected Russian flag there and pitched two tents – a exact copy of Papanin’s another one in Russian national colours.

Museum was warmly greeted in the State Duma. Arctic history didn’t freeze the deputies’ enthusiasm about the exposition devoted to the 70th anniversary of Papanin’s research station and heroic polar flights of Chkalov and Gromov. The museum is organized and promoted by private company, which treats it as its duty and devotion.

The Polar Museum in the State Duma

From June 13 to 15, the mobile polar museum to be open in the State Duma of Russia. The State Duma Committee on Rules and Organization decided to hold the exhibition. A letter was sent this today by Chairman of the Committee, O. Kovalev.

Polar reception at the State Duma. Mobile Polar Museum will be opened on june 14 at 12 pm

The official opening ceremony of the museum will take place on June 14, 2007 at the State Duma of Russia. It is a part of the MVK Mobile Polar Museum The Role of History in Life and Business devoted to the 70th anniversary of the two heroic expeditions: Otto Schmidt’s first Soviet drifting polar station “NP-1” and Chkalov and Gromov’s polar flights. The exhibition will be working on June 13-15.

The Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs is open for new projects

A general meeting of members of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs (RUEF) was held in Rostov-on-Don on May 21-22, 2007. This time the meeting participants discussed significant for Russia in general and especially for the regions development of the Russian exhibition business. Such meetings are not just some kinds of formality, but effective measures aimed at finding some real positive solutions for improving the exhibition strategy of Russia. These meetings are designed to review and discuss relevant issues and questions of exhibition area.

18 Russian regions are waiting for the polar museum. The MVK press-conference was held in RIA Novosti

“18 regions are already waiting for the mobile polar museum”, said the project author, Alexey Shaburov at the press conference. A press conference, The International Polar Year: new museum and exhibition projects, was held today in RIA Novosti Information Agency. The purpose of its summing-up was the opening of the world’s first museum at the North Pole and the mobile polar museum in Moscow.

The opening of the polar museum: the MVK Arctic history

Grand opening of the Mobile polar museum, The Role of HISTORY in life and business, was held on May 17 in Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre. It brought together people who made a significant contribution to the development of the Arctic, and who continued their steps in the present, revived the interest of young people to the events of 70 years ago. The guys of different ages from children group “Hope” were at the opening ceremony.
