The Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute

State scientific center of The Russian Federation – The Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute belongs to the Russian Federal service on environment hydrometeorology and monitoring. It is the oldest and the largest Russian research institute that is involved in the complex study of Polar Regions.

Club of MGIMO Graduates

In autumn 2003, a historical meeting of two MGIMO graduates Konstantin Gorenko and Kirill Bychkov was held; it was decided to gather all MGIMO graduates of their year. Kirill wrote a letter and together with Konstantin sent it to their colleagues, whose addresses they had. Elena Gorenko was busy with the organization of the event for a banquet of 70 people. Those who received the letter began to send it further to the circle of addressees exceeding the limits of one department and graduating year. The number of people, willing to take part in such an informal meeting, was growing day by day.

The Psychology and Pedagogy Department for professional and personal growth of Psychological Faculty of St. Petersburg State University

The University plays a special role in the history of national psychology: it is here where the teaching of psychology as a science began for the first time in Soviet educational institutions. In 1850, professor of theology, A.I. Raikovsky, started to teach logic and experimental psychology.

Association of polar explorers of the Russian Federation

Association of polar explorers of Russia is a public structure, which unites Russian polar explorers, different subdivisions, involved in the exploration of the North, in organization of drifting stations, particularly the first Russian drifting station “North Pole-32”.

Krasnogorsk State Archives

Krasnogorsk State Archives is one of the world’s largest deposits of documentary films and photographs. Only here you may find the photos of Crimean War heroes and see them building the fortress to defend Port Arthur. Krasnogorsk archive materials were used by Michail Romm to shoot his “Common fascism”, and when Sergey Bondarchuk was making the “They fought for their motherland” movie he also used these materials.

Museum of the heroic defense of Sevastopol

The Museum of the heroic defense of Sevastopol was opened in 1905. Panorama “Defense of Sevastopol from 1854-1855” is a world known work of battle-scene painting and it is a monument to the heroism of Sevastopol defenders during the Crimean (Eastern) war of 1853-1856.

Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University n.a. M.V. Lomonosov

The Department of Journalism was established in 1947 in the Faculty of Philology of Moscow State University. Senior teacher Timofei Ivanovich Antropov became the head of the department.

The Russian State Arctic and Antarctic Museum

The Russian State Arctic and Antarctic Museum is the only Russian cultural and educational institution which covers the Polar theme in full and the largest of its kind in the world. It is a unique museum of the local history of polar countries. The scientific concept of the museum was created under the guidance of leading Soviet polar scientists. The building where the museum is located was built in 1838 and is now an architectural monument of the first half of the 19th century, as mentioned by the project architect A.I. Melnikov.

Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore, History and Economy

The Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore, History and Economy is the oldest museum in the region which was founded on October the 17th, 1926. The Museum is situated in the historical quarter of the city. This building was constructed in 1937 as an exemplary secondary school and in 1941 the building was occupied by a military hospital. Its first expositions as a Museum were presented in 1957.

Museum named after I.D. Papanin in the village of Borok (Yaroslavl region)

The Museum of I.D. Papanin has been in existence since 1989 in the same house where he lived and worked while in Borok. The house was among the first cottages of the “Finnish” construction of 1952 – 1953. It stands apart because of its birchwood exterior amongst nearby laboratory buildings. The wooden panel house with the total space of 80 m2 is identical as it was when Papanin lived there: cloths, furniture, and dishes are authentic and convey the modesty and simple tastes of their owner.
