We are united by the North Pole. Denis Shapovalov and MVK executives held the press-conference.
Only a month ago they didn’t even know each other. Today these people meet each other with pleasure, grinning, giving hugs and speak to each other like old friends. Their professional interests are on different poles, but they are united by the Pole.
Journalists press-conference. Russian cultural fund. The atmosphere in the hall is shot with loftiness. There are three persons on the platform. Director General, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MVK Alexey Shaburov, Head of the German representative office of MVK Sergey Muench and the cellist, Fund n.a. Rostropovich fellow, winner of the contest n.a. Tchaikovsky Denis Shapovalov. The journalists are puzzled – where is the unity of these people? As it turned out their unity is in the white vasts and ices.
The head of expedition and author of the project “North Pole – new opportunities in life and business” Alexey Shaburov told: “When I started the project I realized that we lacked culture. The well-known cellist Denis Shapovalov mentioned in his time that he played everywhere except Antarctic. As it happens he didn’t play at the North Pole either. We caught the bug and Denis agreed to come with us”.
We remind that on April 23 the MVK expedition flew to the North Pole. There was opened the First in the world exhibition at the North Pole dedicated to the first polar expedition headed by Ivan Papanin and the legendary flights of Valery Chkalov and Michael Gromov through the North Pole. The programme of events included the concert by of the best cellists in the world Denis Shapovalov.
Opening of the Museum at the North Pole started the historical-patriotic Museum “Role of HISTORY in life and business”. During the year the mobile polar museum is going to be exhibited in Moscow, St.Petersburg, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Ekaterinburg and Rostov-on-Don. Its exposition is opened to more than a million of people. The full museum exposition will be opened on May 17, 2007 which first visitors will be the guests and exhibitors of Euroexpofurniture/EEM-2007 held at Crocus Expo.
At the press-conference Alexey Shaburov was speaking about the project, about the Russian museums which answered the idea and lent their exponents without charge.
The conference participants ladled out jokes. One would think: what is so hard at the North Pole? But even today the flight to this point is a heroic deed.
Denis Shapovalov made a heroic deed. With his soft fingers he played violoncello, this fine instrument at the point of meridians connection – the North Pole. The fingers froze lamented Denis. The frost was minus 20 centigrade, strong wind arose. Denis was playing in the tent where he was sheltered by thin canvas walls. But Shapovalov, as a true artist, had prepared to the concert, put his polar coat and hat off, patted his hair. Asked his audience: “How do I look?”. Everyone broke into laughter – how can one look at the top of the earth – only nobly. To onlookers the concert was funny – spiritualized Denis held the beautiful instrument, violoncello, with his legs booted in huge polar boots. “I played Bach, Schubert. Encore – “Podmoskovnie vechera”. Why Bach? It is a cosmic music which embraces the Earth. There is a theory that the six suites of Bach is the hagiography of God. I played the first one – “Ave Maria” as a symbol of our rebirth at the North Pole”.
