The Nadezhda Every-age Club was created by Efim Steinberg, a father and a child of the squad, a cheerful Friend and Teacher.
Until 1990 Nadezhda was a regional pioneer organization. In 1990 when the pioneer organization broke up, the team remained because it had established traditions. There were pupils and good results. The team was given the status of the every-age squad.
Nadezhda is not a coterie or a studio, although 10 year old children study in the survival school, 12 year old children learn to play the guitar and the girls attend dance classes and study scenic speech. This is a way of life, the world which Efim Steinberg created together with his children.
Nadezhda welcomes children of Moscow and the Moscow region. The motto of the squad: “Bring good and joy to people”. Children of the squad are usually involved in different events: tours, concerts, and international youth games
Mr. Steinberg is certain that the children’s activities are for the benefit of the people. Being involved with these activities enables the child to gain freedom and power, unveils their potential and also develops their personality. Steinberg says that he doesn’t understand such words like “work with children”: “We do not work with children, we just live. When a young boy stays with me for five years I pick his curriculum of interest and he realizes how important it is to be with us. That is why an adult cannot be just a teacher here” says Mr. Steinberg “I always say to my children: I cannot teach you anything although you may study everything from me. I don’t have a medical education, but I’m a doctor. I don’t have an acting education, but I’m an actor. I did not receive any special training in tourism and sports, but I am a tourist and sportsman. I had a hard postwar childhood and I always felt obligated to help children like me who lacked food, friendship and love. I wish upon a child no despair but have tried to help those who have suffered more in this life. That is the reason why most of the time our children help the disabled, those in need and orphans.
Of course, the everyday life of the squad is not only full of extreme and tragic situations but of our children who love to be exuberant at different corporate holidays and have fun as well. To be an open minded man is the most important thing for Efin Steinberg and his children. To be an open minded man does not mean to reveal all the secrets of your soul, but to be able to keep acquaintances, care for the world and try to change the world and yourself. That is why we need this study of music, theatre, and tourism, that is, “the hours of discipleship” as Efim Steinberg loves to say.
In May 2006 some of the children of Nadezhda visited the Euroexpofurniture’2006 exhibition. The children had a chance to drive elegant electromobiles around the Crocus Expo exhibition centre and then eat tasty dinners. The Head of the Nadezhda squad said that as a result of their visit, children want to support their elder colleagues from MVK International Holding Company who gave them support of the youth organization. According to Mr. Steinberg “the cheerful spirit of our squad is similar to the one that reigns in MVK”.
