From the icebreaker Russia journalists communicated the news, “The research vessel Akademik Fedorov is in distress, the icebreaker Russia is moving back to help it” An angry Chilingarov flew to the Akademik Fedorov to hold a press conference.

Chief Mechanical Engineer of the vessel Fedorov said that they had “carried out preventive work related to a malfunction of the lubrication system.

Necessary tools were delivered. After the repair work the vessel was moving slowly for a few hours. Then again – shut-off and prevention work started”.

The research vessel Akademik Fedorov is all right. It is heading on to the north.

The International Exhibition Company (MVK) is a media partner of the Arktika-2007 expedition. The purpose of the MVK expedition is to develop the exposure of the polar museum, which was first discovered at the North Pole. “The North Pole – new opportunities in life and business” project is headed by Alexey Shaburov. He noted, “We clearly understand the importance of the event for the country, for the development and use of the polar areas. We have established a museum dedicated to legendary Papanin and his team. Our task is to hold our history and the feat of modern polar heroes through some generations”.
