Expanding the horizons. The Northern project of MVK starts in the Northern capital

The Russian capital of polar explorations will soon welcome the mobile polar museum of MVK. Its managers started the preparations with measuring the central square of St.Petersburg which is seen as the best ground for museum opening. The museum’s total space is planned to occupy several thousand square meters. As Alexey Shaburov, Director General of MVK underlined in his interview: “In St.Petersburg’s museum we plan to demonstrate unique items from the vaults of the Arctic and Antarctic museums which were never displayed before”.

We remind everyone that on April 24th the MVK expedition opened the first exhibition at the North Pole. The exhibition was dedicated to the polar explorers headed by Ivan Papanin and their landing on the ice, and the legendary flights of Valery Chkalov and Michail Gromov through the North Pole. The white Polar vasts were decorated with the flags of Russia and MVK, and the new polar explorers settled two tents – a model of the papanin’s and a tent coloured the same as the Russian flag.

The opening of the exhibition at the North Pole has become a colourful start for the historical-patriotic museum “Role of HISTORY in life and business”. The formal opening ceremony was held on May 17th at the Euroexpofurniture exhibition in Crocus Expo. After that the museum will go on tour around such Russian cities as: Moscow, St.Petersburg, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Ekaterinburg and Rostov-on-Don. Over a million people may visit the museum exposition and see the 300 exhibits, among them: household utensils, personal things of the polar explorers, rare photographs, unique video archives and archive documents. All these materials were kindly lent by Russian museums and relatives of the polar explorers.
